Latvia is a republic country in the Northern part of Europe. It is bordered by many countries such as Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, and Sweden at its sides. The capital city of Latvia is Riga. It is not densely populated as that of the other countries in Europe. It is spread over an area of 64,589 square km. the official language of Latvia is Latvian, and the country boasts of a temperate climate. The maximum portion of the land in this country is covered by forests and Latvia boasts of more than 12,500 rivers in the country thus making agriculture as their main source of economy. The major religion of the people in this country is Christianity. There are two major world-class universities also in the country are located in the city of Riga.

The republic status to Latvia was given in the year of 1918, but the status was found to be interrupted during the Second World War. The country then restored its independence in the year of 1991. The Latvian parliament is called Saeima and voting is done once every four years. The president is selected and then the president selects the prime minister who becomes the head of the executive branch of the Latvian government. The Latvian government has relations with the other 158 countries and Latvia has been a member of the European Union for two decades and has already represented the European parliament as well.

Latvia is famous for the different types of tourist spots in the country. One of the famous destinations in the country is the Latvijas Etnografiskais Brivdabas Muzejs, which is a museum of the different types of Latvian tribes. Then there is a big water attraction called as the Livu Akvaparks, which is also considered as a tourist hub in the country. Some of the other tourist destinations in Latvia include the Open Air Art Museum and the Karostas cietums. The Riga Zoo, the Riga Motor museum are some of the famous tourist places in the country. The Gauja National park and the Latvian war museum are worth a visit and the Lake Engure and the Ludza Castle are hard to miss among the various tourist destinations. The Riga aviation museum and the museum of the occupation of Latvia are some other spots, which are relatively as significant as the other tourist spots in the country. Another such spot is the Freedom monument, which is considered the ancient tourist destination.

There are different modes of transportation in Latvia. The railways, airlines, boats form the major hub of transport. There are a number of airports in the country in different cities allowing both domestic and international flights to and from almost all the cities. There is a major airport, which is called the Riga International Airport, and from this airport, there are many flights operating in many other cities as well as to the other countries. Ryanair and Wizzair are some of the low-cost of domestic airlines. The intercity communication is done through the railway network and there are different types of trains from different countries to the Riga station terminal. There are even daily plying trains from different countries as well as cities to the Daugavpils and Rezekne. There are even car services, and rental international car services are available in Latvia. There is a significant road, which links the country to the neighboring countries, and that road is called the Via Baltica. Even these rental services of the car can be hired directly after getting down at the Riga international airport. There are bus services plying in Latvia also. There are two major buses called the Eurolines and the Ecolines, which connects Latvia with the other European countries. One can even enjoy bus services in Latvia.
