Virgin Trains

Jointly owned by Stagecoach and The Virgin Group, Virgin Trains is a UK based train operating company that has been running Intercity West Coast Franchise from way back since the 9th of March in 1997. The Virgin Trains long distance passenger service operates in between Scotland, North Wales, North West England, West Midlands and Greater London connecting some of the major cities like Glasgow, Manchester, London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Liverpool.

Initially Virgin Trains had remained the victim of poor punctuality as against other transport operators in between the years 2001 to 2006. Back in 2008, with the introduction of the new timetable followed by up gradation of West Coast Main Line, punctuality did improve gradually but at the cost of performance. But then with due course of time, Virgin Trains boasted of high performance in 2010- 2011 as the transport sector undertook a number of major infrastructure projects. Reliability of trains has even been improved by a larger scale.
